Participants: 12 teams – festival visitors
Steps along the way: 10
Approximate distance: 2 km
Approximate duration: 1-1.5 hours
Language of the game: Bulgarian
Organized by: Inner Voice and Zagrazhden Film Fest
When we first created a game for Zagrazhden Film Fest in 2025, we felt that this kind of experience is perfect for a festival program. Visitors didn’t just watch movies – they began exploring the village, talking to one another, solving riddles and experiencing Zagrazhden in a whole new way.
That is precisely why, in 2026, we joined forces with the festival team once again. Our goal was not simply to repeat our success, but to offer a completely new adventure that would surprise both new participants and those who had played the year before.
More than a Film Festival
Between July 10 and 12, 2026, the village of Zagrazhden once again became a gathering place for lovers of cinema, nature and good stories.
In addition to the film program, the festival also featured sports, workshops, a craft market, an exhibition, music and other experiences that made ZFF so much more than just movies.
Among those activities, of course, was the urban (or should we say rural) quest game of Inner Voice.
More about the Game
For about an hour, the participants walked around various locations in Zagrazhden, uncovered clues left by agents, deciphered codes, solved riddles and even tackled physical challenges.
The approximately two-kilometer route was carefully selected so that the players could discover interesting places in the village.
One of our key goals is for people to learn more about the place without having to rely on someone simply telling them about it. We believe that when you discover a clue on your own or figure out the correct answer, the information sticks with you much longer.
The Results
Twelve teams participated in the game, which for a small festival was a very rewarding outcome.
The best result was achieved by the team The Three Musketeers with 1581 points and a time of 1 hour and 3 minutes.
The most valuable thing for us was the feedback we received after the final round. Many participants started asking about our games in Plovdiv and Sofia, while others were interested in whether we also create custom quests for private events and corporate clients. For us, this is a sign that the game doesn’t end with the final riddle. It continues with newfound curiosity.
The Value of Our Partnership
Our game gave the festival visitors yet another reason to stay active during the day. Instead of simply waiting for the next movie, they walked around the streets of Zagrazhden, took photos with locals, discovered new places and created their own memories of the festival.
For us this was an opportunity to reach an audience that loves adventures, nature and unusual events – people who naturally like quest games and challenges. It is precisely these kinds of partnerships that create value for both sides.
Why Does This Format Work
A well-designed quest game doesn’t compete with the event – it complements it. It helps visitors spend more time at the venue, discover details they might otherwise miss, interact with one another and remember the event.
At festivals like Zagrazden Film Fest, where the atmosphere and sense of community are almost as important as the content itself, such an activity naturally fits into the overall experience.
What We Learned
Working outside an urban setting always presents us with new challenges. Zagrazden has no wide boulevards, numerous public buildings or the typical urban landmarks we’re used to working with. That’s exactly what made it so exciting. The village has its own character and tranquility, which allow for a completely different kind of story.
This project showed us that good games can be successfully adapted to small places and diverse festival spaces if we use a story that’s interesting to the participants.
For us, our second participation in Zagrazden Film Fest is proof that when organizers are willing to experiment and partners work toward a shared vision, the result is an experience that leaves a mark for every participant. We thank the ZFF team for their trust and for the opportunity to once again be part of the festival’s program.
We’re already thinking about our next adventures. If you’re organizing a festival, an event or a unique initiative and are looking for an interactive activity that engages visitors in a new way, we’d love to create the next story together.
