In April 2025 Inner Voice officially launched the urban quest game Lost in the Writers’ Quarter - an interactive adventure that takes participants through the central streets of Sofia to discover stories, memories, and secrets hidden between the pages of the city’s literary past.
The game is dedicated to some of the most significant Bulgarian poets and writers who lived in Sofia after the Liberation of Bulgaria (1878), including Elisaveta Bagryana, Peyo Yavorov, Dimcho Debelyanov, and Ivan Vazov. All the riddles and stories are inspired by real locations connected to their lives and work.
New Partnerships in the Name of Great Stories
In creating Lost in the Writers’ Quarter, we had the pleasure of partnering with Viktor Topalov from „Bohemian Sofia“ , an expert on urban history and a man who lives and breathes the atmosphere of the old capital. Together with him, we selected the locations of the route, gathered interesting facts, and put together a puzzle of places that tell you how the great Bulgarian authors lived and worked.
The Day Sofia Came Alive through Writers’ Words
More than 15 teams took part in the game’s launch event on April 12, 2025, including experienced enthusiasts from other cities, but also many beginners for whom this was their first urban adventure. The central streets of the city, starting from the monument of Patriarch Evtimiy of Tarnovo, were filled with people who searched for clues and shared their inspiration.
Many of the participants shared that they had passed by the house of Elisaveta Bagryana or the home of Peyo Yavorov dozens of times, for example, but had never stopped to look more closely at the buildings and the details on them. In their words, the game helped them discover new layers of the city, travel back in time, and feel the atmosphere of the “Writers’ Quarter.”
